I'm trying to run my compacq diagnostics program, about

3/4 of the way through a window pop's up and says

    Pure Virtual Function Called !!!!!! ( W.T.F ??? )

I close the window and try again..... ( illegal operation !!!!! )

CPQDIAG caused a general protection fault in module

    HPBFFB1.DRV

    what's going on ????

    Thanks in advance.

I would check COMPAQ message boards. That's proprietary COMPAQ software. I had a friend who had a compaq and he wiped his drive clean of all compaq crap and now his system runs better and faster. Compaq 'puters have tons of proprietary crap on them...

    speaking of compaq proprietary crap...

my first PC that i bought when i went to college was a presario, which had a 2gb hard drive... a year later, i wanted to upgrade to a 5gb hd... well, when i cracked open the case, i found that the compaq hd was soldered to the motherboard!!!! i had to leave it in there b/c i had no soldering iron...

    compaq sucks.

It sounds as though the developer that wrote that utility left some sort of message box in his code that would pop up a box warning when a pure virtual function was called (probably C/C++ code). I'd agree with rH...definitely get in touch with Compaq/HP newsgroups or technical support. Their stuff is extremely proprietary in nature.

pure virtual functions should never be called. So, its a error indicative of a program that has lost its mind.

The error messages can be randomly triggered once a program starts straying so might not tell you what is wrong, or how the program lost its mind. Just go to Compaq and update all your drives or any patches they provide.

Update your printer drivers or anything else too.

if that doesn't work, you'll have to call them. good luck

Looks like you're no longer a fugitive... you've been caught.

    "Compaq".

    Carry on. :D
