I thought I would check to see if anyone here can help with a computer issue I have. It seems everytime I turn it on, before anything pops on the screen the computer just starts beeping, similar to a siren. However, if I turn it on and off a hundred or so times it eventually will boot up... I am no expert with computers, but pretty savy with them, but have never seen/heard of this before. Any suggestions on what I need to do or do I need to take it in to get repaired. I have a lot of stuff on this computer that I haven't backed up yet, photos, etc... Any help would be appreciated....
#1 memory is loose or bad. #2 I had a video card with a special fan that you had to plug in or it would beep like memory problems.
If you do keep having problems and need to backup stuff, but can't get into windows, try this... http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/intro/ It's called BartPE and it is a mini-operating system you boot off of a cd. Just burn that onto a cd and try booting from it and you can manage files off of that.
It should not be more than 2 to 5 beeps. Read this for help: http://www-306.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4XVQAL
