I wrote this poem shortly before Thanksgiving in 2001, in the wake of 9/11. I found it recently among my files, and thought I would share with you all. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! The air is turning colder, the leaves are turning gold. The time again is drawing near to gather friends of old. We'll gather in our houses, in homes of ancient past, and offer our Thanksgiving for all that's come to pass. For good times, we are grateful, for times beyond our reach. For bad times, also grateful, for those are times that teach. For friends that gather near to us, for friends we cannot touch, for friends that are no longer, whose memory means so much For those that went before us, for those who still may come, for those gave up everything to keep us safe at home. This year, again, we offer our gratitude for living. My warmest thoughts are with you all this blessed Thanksgiving. - November 17, 2001
