Heading to Lake Charles in a few weeks looking for a good place to eat that is not in a casino or Sonic. Looking for something local.

A friend already told me to try Steamboat Bills.

I'd imagine outside of the casinos, there just isn't many destination location in Lake Charles. I could be wrong though.

Whenever I go to Lake Charles for business the operations guys from there always like to eat lunch at Logans.

Darrell's. This was recommended to me by Pole (where are you, Pole?), I believe, years ago for my first marriage's bachelor party. They have by far the best po boys I have ever had the delight of eating. I would split the shrimp one and the Darrell's special one with someone. If you get the large, it's cut in half, so easy to share. It's right off 210 at the College St. exit. When you make the exit, you come face to face with it at the feeder.

This is not a recommendation, this is a necessity.

Steamboat Bills gave me food poisoning once so I hate that place. It did taste good when going down though.

Go to the boiling point. Some of the best cajun food ive ever had and definitely the best pistolettes ive ever had. It's in Sulpher which is only like 10 miles from Lake charles

Wow you must be really broke. Where do you eat? The streets of China?

I also recommend Waffle House. Do not be alarmed by the waitresses' teeth, it's just meth mouth.

Seconded. I went to HS in Sulphur. Darrell died though, and I haven't been in a while, so I don't know if it's held up.

And a big disagree to the Boiling Point, Hell NO to Cajun Charlie's... if you want good local hole in the wall food, hit Richard's on HWY 90 between hwy 27 and City Service.
