Birthday's coming up and I'm wondering where a good place for a birthday dinner would be for a party of 15-20. Did it last year at Guadalajara's on 59, and that turned out pretty good, but would like to do something different this year. Looking around the 59/610 area or not too far from there. Any ideas?

Here is my two cents worth:

Mary'z...if you like middle eastern food and want to pass the hookah around on the patio outside
Cafe Adobe...good mexican food and strong margaritas
    El Tiempo....ditto above
Armadillo Palace...good burgers, cold beer, music

I love the Grand Lux Cafe off 610 and westheimer. Outstanding food, outstanding quantities of it, and pretty good pricing to boot. Most stuff is about $13-$20 for some pretty good dishes.

They've got a little bit of everything. Seafood, italian, american and what not.

that menu doesn't show the prices, but most are very very reasonable and if you want to splurge on a dish, they certainly have the $25-30 dishes as well. I'm a little biased since I went there about 3 weeks ago for my birthday :)
