    I hated those Mets in '86. I went to an Astros-Mets game at Shea that season (Ryan vs. Gooden on 4th of July) and didn't realize how historic that matchup would prove to be. I'll never forget how crazy Carter got about Mike Scott's split finger pitch in the playoffs.

    He was an excellent player - very sad to hear of his passing. R.I.P.
