I am thinking of using a product called "DVD Xpress" made by ADS Tech to back up VHS to DVD format. Anyone had any experience with it? Also... if so or even if not... what is a good analog to digital converting system/programs/etc.?
I bought an Intel usb camera which has an analog RCA video (yellow) input. This allowed me to do what only some video input cards could do for a while, and I got decent conversion form my Hi8 camcorder. I have also recorded some video game footage from Gran Turismo 3 and 4. This camera came with its own program called Intel Create and Share, which allows you to make greeting cards, play video-sensor games and such. It does a decent capture, but my machine is slow and weak (800mhz, ~390 MB memory, 20 gb hard drive), and I already ran out of space on that and a secondary hard drive. I am hoping to convert ALL the Hi8 videos I have, and some VHS ones. What do you have to capture the video? It should have come with something free. You're talking about DVD xPress to copy DVD's, or just capturing video to your PC from your VHS? EDIT: I see now http://www.adstech.com/ . WOW. It has FireWire output? Coolio. And you meant the EXPRESS one: http://www.adstech.com/products/USBAV_701/intro/usb701intro.asp?pid=USBAV701 . I think we've mentioned the DAZZLE before... search for "capture" and "dazzle" on this hangout...we've talked about them.
Well, the one I bought was spelled "Xpress" and sold through Sam's. It's works pretty good, btw. here-->http://www.adstech.com/products/USBAV_701/intro/usb701intro.asp?pid=USBAV701 (same you linked...) I was able to do all of the dvd menus with motion thumbnails, etc. It comes with DVD Movie Factory 3, CapWiz, and Muvee... it's USB and has the tri-color RCA inputs. Time to "back-up" my championship videos!
