Clingan's on-off numbers indicate a pretty big positive impact. Blazers are 5 points better per 100 possessions with him on the floor.

Clingan is good. I don't think likely future ALL-NBA good. Even if he ends up in the Top 15 of players eligible for All-NBA by objective measures, the way he provides value is unlikely to garner ALL-NBA votes.

With guys like Clingan (Klingon) or Gobert, they have to develop at least a good Offense.

    Gobert tried.

I was really impressed with Clingan last season, but while still being very impressive, I don't think he is maximizing his talent. I expected him to be a bit ahead of where he is now. Also, I get the feeling that he will have an injury prone career, just a hunch.

I like Clingan a lot and want him to succeed. He's trying to become the big, bruiser who rebounds and protects the rim but also hit 3s.

He can definitely become a core piece of a championship team if he isn't overpaid, but I dunno if he ever makes an all-NBA team.

If you could somehow combine Hansen Yang's offense with Clingan's defense, you'd have an All-NBA guy for sure

He's a good player, but I'm not seeing the level of elite rim protection and rebounding needed to make All-NBA as a defense-first center (i.e. Rudy Gobert) and his offensive game is limited. I think there's a decent chance his 3P shot eventually comes around to some degree, but even if it does, I still see him topping out as something like an 18 and 12 guy with a couple blocks a game. That might be enough to play in an all-star game or two, but not sure it gets him to All-NBA.

I will say, the closest we had to a consensus top 6 leading up to the 2024 draft (Risacher, Sarr, Sheppard, Clingan, Castle, Buzelis) all look like they will have careers as NBA rotation players right now, though Risacher is mired in a shooting slump at the moment. I was pretty sure there would be at least one huge bust among them given the overall weakness of the draft.

His conditioning needs to improve, but his per 36 minutes are already 14 pts, 14 reb, and 2.2 blocks. I think he will easily top out above your ceiling rebound and block numbers once he gets an NBA body. I'm surprised his block numbers are that low. I'm skeptical of him getting his offense to up enough that he will get All-NBA consideration. His defense compares well with Gobert at the same age.

According to @Nook Clingan was one of three players Udoka wanted to get with the 3rd pick. I'm glad we ended up with Sheppard. And Adams is a better fit as our backup big at this stage of our rebuilding.

If you don't watch bball, you don't watch bball.

Citing the great @what, Klingon would not be the reason to watch basketball and also the reason to watch basketball.
