Philly goes big with Bynum, which worries Doc Rivers (a little)

Too bad Morey wasn't that interested.

I shudder to think the kind of leap Bynum will make with Kwame's mentorship. He will run roughshod through the league.

    but. but.
Kwame was Bynum's mentor. everything Bynum knows came from him.

Doug apparently left out the part where Doc then added, "but the guy I'm TERRIFIED of is Donatas Motiejunas."

    Right???

Did Doug notice Doc's fingers were crossed behind his back when he said it?

I think the guy we should all be afraid of is Aaron Afflalo.

doc has a reason to worry:

    bynum
    t.young
    wright
    turner
    holiday

everyone in that lineup is a two-way player who can hit the 3. very dangerous around bynum. they have some fire power with nick young, turner, hawes off the bench. i think they will land home court in the first round, and the team is so young they can really grow together.

why should doc worry? celtics have a better lineup AND bench.

    rondo > holiday
Lee > Turner (not too sure about this one)
    pierce > wright
    garnett > young
    bass < bynum

I think their starting 5 will be:
    Holiday
    J. Richardson
    Turner
    Hawes
    Bynum

    Bench: T. Young, N. Young, D. Wright

The bench looks good, but they are going to have a lot of trouble scoring.

The is where Jrue Holiday has to step up and become the player many thought he would be. For the Sixers to be a real factor, he has to take control of their offense and become a better playmaker and distributor. IMO, he was disappointing last year. If he continues flatlining, it will be time for the Sixers to look elsewhere.

OT: Holiday strikes me as a future head coach in the NBA.

I think he will step it up this year. Splitting time with Lou Williams, and playmaking duties with Iggy most likely hindered him. Hopefully, he will reach his potential this year b/c he's the main trigger for the offense now.

I like Holiday and want him to do well, but season 4 is coming up. No more excuses.

The lone exception being if the entire team gets tired of listening to Doug Collins and things go south. If anyone here is a betting person, you may want to put money on this.

Only problem is garnett/pierce are about to have their wheels fall off. Maybe this year, maybe next year but it is inevitable. I think this year Boston might be better but soon after the youth is going to overwhelm them.

Hawes at 4 isn't going to happen. That's like Scola at 3.
I agree re Richardson at 2, that's the most likely scenario.
Turner will have to produce to stay the starter --- Richardson and Wright (as long as they are in shape) are good enough to take both wing spots and push Turner to the bench.

    Bass isn't a 5. KG is their 5 now.

Anyway, i think Doc was probably talking in terms of who KG can reasonably defend without double teams.

For a relatively slender center like KG, Dwight may actually be easier than a behemoth like Bynum. Bynum has too much lower body strength for KG to handle in post ups.
If you don't help, most Bynum possessions are likely to end in layups/dunks. If you do help, that opens up the shooters.
