assault weapons? I already have an AR-15 in .223. ...and I'm considering a rifle with more punch such as the Springfield M1A in .308 (7.62 X 51)...I was holding this rifle at Carter's and it seems rather large compared to my AR....More for the fun of having it. I guess if I wanted to go cheaper I could go with the Browning 7400 and attach the available 10 round extension. Any thoughts?

I bet you could kill alot of squirrels with a gun like that. Of course, there wouldn't be much left of them...

Look, guns are for protecting your family, killing dangerous or delicious animals, and keeping the queen of England out of your face! That's it!

I was listening to NPR and if you can get to somewhere around Fazibad in northern Afhganistan you can pick up a slightly used RPG ($150) or AK-74, a grenade ($10), or a land mine ($5) for real cheap.

    listen here

I don't wish to get into it again (last thread was it for me) but I'm still in favor of banning all guns save for licenses for real hunters.

    semi-automatic..........

You have got to be joking, everyone no matter there age or psychological profile should be able to own FULLY Automatic weapons, and people should be encouraged to do so!!!!

Make it illegal not to own a fully automatic weapon

What about bazookas???? how can you feel safe in your own home if you don't have one, the government should provide subsidies so everyone can get one, or taxbreaks or maybe lay-away plans!!!

Smeg, you're not in America. You must understand that everyone in America must own weapons to feel safe; it's how we all get along. :D

    ROXRAN,

I am curious. Why do you want that gun from the link provided? Is it just a collecting thing? Do you want it for hunting (and what mythological creature will you be taking out with that thing :) )? Or is it for some other reason? Again, I am just curious, this is not a trap or anything to try to argue with you.

Do you see how you will never be able to get away from the squirrel thing now? It is a part of you.

Civilians should have access to the same guns criminals do.

It's not really that bad Smeg. There are times I do wish the US were more like other countries and not be so gun-happy, but then the US offers so many things other countries do not and the ownership of a gun happens to be one of those things. I personally don't own a gun, have never had the need for one, and doubt I'll ever need one.

There's a Mexican restaurant nearby where I work that some of my co-workers and I frequent. There's a gun range within a few miles of that restaurant, so we can see it as we head to and leave from eating at the restaurant. It's amazing how much more packed that place is since the 9/11. Kinda scary.
