A co-worker just told me about this that direct tv goes out anytime the weather get slightly bad. This would be pretty annoying if you want to stay at home and watch tv on a rainy day...does anyone have the same issue with direct tv? They are coming on Saturday to install...so i still have time to cancel

Not really. When it's really pouring then sometimes it goes out for like 5 minutes. Nothing major at all.

I used to have more problems. Not really anymore. I suggest you get a DVR though. Anytime I do have a problem I just switch over to my DVR and watch something else. No sweat.

Same here. Nothing major. I love DirecTV but I may have to switch to cable if they can't come to an agreement with Versus. I need my hockey.

It's gone out on me maybe three-four times a year, and only in the strongest of storms. It's annoying when it happens, but it hasn't lasted long (two-twenty minutes: as soon as the heaviest cloud cover passes, it goes away). My cable used to go out every once in a while, but it'd take a service call to get it restored, so no real complaints from me.

So basically, you can watch during the eye of the hurricane, just not during the rest of it.

My experience with Direct is somewhat old (10 years ago), but I used to have it go out for a few minutes everytime it rained and the signal would get iffy if it was heavily overcast.

I hear it has gotten better over the years, but the weather issue isnt a non-factor Im sure...there is only so much they can do to make up for the dish's inability to get a clear shot at the satellite.

Some here whine about comcast, but in the 10 years I have had them, Ive had very few outages longer than 30 minutes...except for the week it was out due to Ike.

When my TV goes out I know that a storm is coming from west/southwest and it's usually out a short time.

Like someone said, just watch something you DVR'd when that happens.

I have Dish but the experience is the same.
