[DESPERATE] Washer Help

    Ok, I feel stupid posting a thread about doing laundry, but I seriously am at the end of my rope. I threw 4 towels in the wash last night, and when it was finished, I went to go put them in the dryer and to my dismay they were still sopping wet. I put it on rinse again hoping the water would be sucked into the washer thingy, but when I checked them again they were even more soaked than before. I am seriously so frustrated, I don't know if it's the fact they were towels or if there's something wrong with the washer...I'm so bad at this stuff.

    That's a photo of it, the red dot is where I set the towels.

    I don't know, I've washed towels in it before...

    3 are sitting in my bathtub right now and the other one is on the balcony, I'm going to have to re-wash them.

    Anyone know why, at the end of the washer cycle, the laundry would still be sopping wet?

    did it not do the spin cycle? Off balance?

    Did it complete all the cycles?

    See, it started where the red dot is and ended where it is in the picture. So it went through wash, soak, and the little symbol that I'm assuming means spin cycle.

    I've done a dozen loads before, and didn't have problems with those...

    Really. Damn. Ok, I'll just do a load of whites and see if it doesn't do the spin cycle.

    Yeah, the spin is where it really gets all the water out. Just draining the tub won't be enough.

    Btw, it is VERY obvious when your washer is in the spin cycle. It makes a very loud spinning noise, typically. And when you open the lid during the spin cycle, you will still see it spinning before it stops.

    Yeah, I did some other laundry and it was fine.

    I don't know what's so special about these towels, it plain and simply will not drain. I hear the spin cycle, but it won't work.

    I put the towels in the dryer sopping wet 3 hours ago, and they're halfway dry...

    I guess I'll just hand-wash towels from now on...

    Or just don't do so many towels at once. Try splitting the towel load in half.

    Is that the dorm's washer? They're usually small and will take fewer towels than most high-capacity load machines. I second Fatty's advice. Split the load in half.

    It can also be that the centripetal force is not enough to let the water out through the holes on the spinning dealie thingie from the towels. If they were sopping wet when in the dryer 3 hours ago, and are still halfway wet, I am thinking these towels need to be washed a couple at a time, and dried a couple at a time as well. It should NOT take 3 hours to dry some towels. That's just not good.

    How about squeezing some more water out when you take them out of the washer before putting them in the dryer?

    Don't give up on this thing. Are you also doing moes' towels? ;)

    Swoly, I live in an apartment. :)

    I tried to ring them out but they're huge and like 30 pounds each wet so I gave up.

    BTW, I was doing towels in preparation for Derek's visit. He's actually in the shower right now and there's nice clean towels waiting for him.
