There has to be a reason that Stoudamire hasn't signed yet. I am speculating that we are still talking with Portland about S&T. Van Exel has to know he is the backup plan. That's why he's talking this stuff about getting something done by Monday. He's trying to apply any kind of pressure that he can. Apparently Damon still feels like there is an opportunity to come here through S&T or he has to be still weighing taking the LLE. How can we offer the LLE to another player until we rescind the offer to Damon or he signs with Memphis? Could it be that we are working on a deal including Miles and we are going to have to wait until his BYC expires at the end of the month?

Stoudamire sounded like he was really hoping/waiting for a Rockets/Portland deal in his interviews. I'd be waiting too. If Houston is where he wants to be, I'm sure he wouldn't mind waiting another week or so, in case something happens.

Right now Stoudamire has the upper hand w/ Memphis. They've traded their starting PG and only have Bobby Jackson as of now. They supposedly have offered a 4yr/17M to him so he atleast has a fallback plan.

I would really like to have DS here, but if there's still the potential for a S'N'T it would likely mean either Portland or us has wavered.

DS coming here for the LLE and a 105% raise (right?) next season doesn't make sense unless he's willing to give it a shot for a year and see what happens just so he could live in Houston and play with T-Mac and Yao.

I don't know, but if we get DS in a S'N'T 50% of this bbs is going to be very pissed off because of what we had to give up.

You said it. I could go either way depending on what we give up.

I favor a S&T for the Mouse b/c it would open up some roster spots and allow us to bring in a SG for the LLE. I'd be interested in DerMarr Johnson for the LLE, but I dont see why he would take that when he had a solid season and he is only getting better, but its nice to dream I guess.
