The number of them are getting larger and larger...More of them on an almost daily basis...So what do you think about these things?...

Of course, I'm referring to the sites where people have died on roadsides...How do you feel about it? Is it a form of littering to you or deepfelt remembrance to others?

I live in Atascocita forest and 2 women died on a strech of road on Will Clayton near Atascocita road not that long ago...First 2 staked crosses....then there has been a "clutter" of mementos from flowers to cards to letters to balloons, etc.

I guess I think this has been excessive and overdone...Could 2 lone crosses be enough? I know an Humble girl was one of those killed, but still....please keep cluttering to the minimum

I really don't care for them...when does it end? Who decides that "yes, that's enough, the next person to die will not get a cross". I think it's morbid.

I dunno aren't cemetaries for that kinda thing?

I guess some people can't let go of the memory of what happened and it pacifies the "never forget".

I wouldn't do the cross thing 'cept on my grave.

I tried to erect a small cross at the site where my grandfather died, but all it did was poke a hole in his mattress.

I remember a few years ago in the Dallas area, a teenager was struck by a car and killed as she attempted to erect a roadside cross for a relative of hers who was killed on the stretch of road.

I think they should be able to honor their loved ones however they want. I guess it's a makeshift memorial. If you wanna get technical, I guess you can call the state to see if they're legal.

I haven't known anyone who was killed by a car but I think the incident is so sudden and so unforgiving people try to find a way to cope with it best they can. I do believe they have the right to remember their relatives the best they can as long as they are not hurting anyone.

I thought they were put there by an organization against drunk driving... I thought those crosses represented deaths by drunk drivers?

    Don't bother me.

Other than the obvious benefits that the families apparently feel, I think it's good to remind all of us to drive safely, don't take driving for granted.

I often think what people 200 years ago would think of everyone hurling a ton of steel down the road at 70 mph.

A young boy died on Memorial Drive last year sometime when his car hit a tree. Not only was the tree enshrined, but a lawn chair sat out there for the duration of my last visit. I never saw it occupied. I don't know what that was supposed to mean, other than someone must sit there on occasion.

What we think about people hurling over 2000 mph through the air in 200 years

I've got no real problem with it. People have to try and cope with loss however they can. And I see so many stupid drivers these days, maybe its not a bad thing if they see a reminder every now and then that they aren't trying out for NASCAR.

yeah...the kids went to stratford high school...some of the kids involved in the youth group at my church knew them...there are still flowers and a chair there all the time...letters to him/them (more than one died, i think)..it's on memorial between eldridge and highway 6...i pass by that all the time.

i'm not about to tell people how to mourn the death of people they love.
