You provided the coaching and mentoring that rubbed off on Lebron James and allowed him to shine in the critical playoff moments.
In all seriousness, I was a little surprised by this, but: Bill Wennington (I think it was him, radio analyst in the espn broadcasts) reported that Lebron videotaped all his workouts with Hakeem and that he has been rewatching them constantly during the playoffs. That is pretty cool. Lebron also said he's been in touch with Hakeem multiple times during the playoffs to get pointers about what he's doing right and wrong. My hat's off to both of them, even though I worship one (Hakeem) and have been pretty critical of the other.
Gotta admit, having seen Lebron post up during this offseason has been scary to watch. It was the main thing holding him back and he can only get better at it, not worse. Scary for the rest of the league.
Hakeem's maturity was probably the best thing he could help Lebron with, it took Dream years to get it himself.....seems that is the biggest thing Lebron needed... I really wish Dream would be more involved with the Rockets, shame on Les for not having him on payroll. DD
I was shocked LeBron didn't want the DPOY this year but it's a good thing he didn't cause then Hakeem wouldn't be the only player with DPOY, MVP and Finals MVP in one year
LeBron will only get better in the post, and his ability to finish at the rim once he gets to the basket, even through contact, is absurdly good. Might be the best we've ever seen...that'll be his key to greatness. He could become a transcendent 3/4 with a dominant post-up game and driving ability. Kind of like how Dirk went from an outside to an inside player, except LeBron will at the same time be the greatest threat in the league at driving from the perimeter.
Why hasn't Durant approached Hakeem yet? The two would get along I'm sure. I'm also more certain that Hakeem's tutelage would take Durant's post abilities to the next level and that Durant is built to play in a similar fashion to pull of the most impressive of moves.
