    * NOT Mexico's Independence day.
    * NOT celebrated as huge in Mexico as celebrated here.
    * This year only, it will be 05/05/05, as noted by akperez.

Please don't take this the wrong way, Americans, but Mexico's Independence day is NOT this day, nor do we [Mexicans] see it as a major holiday. We might mention it, but we don't do what the United States does in terms of a HUGE parade, and such.

Carry on, ladies and gentlemen, and get drunk and party hard however you like.

Anyway, TMAC already started HIS celebration with a CORONA and will continue doing so tomorrow night.

    How will YOU celebrate?

EDIT: upon UPrising's request, change to GAY crimson. :D

EXACTLY. This Cinco de Mayo thing is for CORONA and DOS EQUIS and BOHEMIA just like St. Patrick's Day for O'DOULs (couldn't find another Irish beer name), huh? :p

Cinco de Mayo sounds like an outstanding reason for me to enjoy some adult beverages this Thursday. Perhaps a margarita or five.

Where do your fine Latin sisters congregate to celebrate to this joyous occasion?

Damn, I always thought it was something about 5 jars of mayonnaise.

Where I come from anytime the Lakers win is a Mexican holiday.

...any excuse to drink Margaritas is OK with me...

I think Americans like it just because it sounds cool..."Cinco de Mayo" just rolls of the tongue...Somehow, "Diez y Ses de Septiembre" just doesn't have quite the ring to it....

hmmm.....why is it that Cinco de Mayo gets more recognition than September 16???? I of course have always favored Cinco de Mayo when it comes to Mexican holidays. There is ALWAYS a party somewhere on my birthday w/ specials on fajitas, ritas and mexican beer! WOOHOO!

05/05/05 is a little creepy though.........

You're probably right......plus Cinco de Mayo occurs in the spring which has more patio party potential! Good for cold beer and ritas. September is pretty low key.

    Ummmmmmm.

    O'Doul's is a non-alcoholic beer.

Try Guinness, or Bass, or Harp.

I'll be hitting up Pappasito's for half price fajitas before heading over to my old place for the game. We'll have all the people from the last win there, so mark your calendars for game 7 on Saturday!

Apparently, cinco de mayo was the day that Mexico defeated the French army at Puebla in 1862.

Hey, any day that the French get their ASSES kicked is a day to celebrate, IMO...

I'll be frikken overjoyed when 610 stops playing (and playing...and playing) that ridiculously annoying Corona Cinco de Mayo commercial.

Corona sucks arse. XX/Bohemia/Negro Modelo all the way.
