child support and a special needs child

In Texas how long does a person pay child support on mentally r****ded special needs child? Until the child turns 18 or do they pay the rest of there life?

How much of an impairment does the child have? Will he/she graduate at 18 or 21? Or are they pursuing some alternative certificate?

I'm not sure in TX but I seem to remember some states requiring payment until the child is turned over to a support service.
