    There was a movie about a time traveler who went back to the time of Christ, and also did miracles etc.

    He eventually figured that he had to sacrifice himself like Jesus because it was the only way to protect the people back in that time.

    It implied that Jesus might have been from the future and a time traveler too.

    Does anyone remember that movie? And what was it called?

    Sounds like the book Behold the Man by Michael Moorcock.
    I'm not aware of a movie version.

    I think he was traveling back in time to find his brother, whom I think was Jesus.....and he didn't realize it until the end.
