Well since alot (read: Manny, DVauthrin, etc.) of people seem to be whinning about the Yankees, I have decided that I am going to whine about how the Lakers two championships dont exist! Cause in my mind they are a big market team and they were helped out by the refs! Down with the Lakers! Down with the Yankees! They all suck just cause they are a big market team. They suck cause they were "lucky" in winning anything. They might have the best players and the best team in the league, but whenever they accomplish anything it is becasue they are "lucky"!

    BOO HOO!

    NBA has a salary cap.

    MLB does not.

Puedlfor said all that needs to be said.

And btw, I don't like Lakers bandwagoners, either. The Lakers, as a franchise, are just more palatable because they have the same limitations as everybody else.

Mark Cuban and Paul Allen can rock the boat a little bit... but not nearly as much.

    NBA-SALARY CAP

    MLB-NO SALARY CAP

    big DIFFERENCE

Give PAUL ALLEN a baseball team of his own and watch what happens

Not that I could see, I've criticized those who consistently b**** about the refs giving the Lakers the title.

The one thing the Lakers do not have is an enormous advantage in revenue born of an inherently unfair system like the Yankees.

Maybe not the same advantage, but they certainly have far more revenues than teams like the Jazz, and can more effectively deal with the Luxury Tax that other teams now have to run from.

The point of this thread was to show that no matter what some people will always blame some form of an external factor when a hated team wins a title.

There's a million things wrong with comparing the NBA salary structure to Major League Baseball's salary structure. And if you're going to compare allegations of refs actively helping the Lakers, to a baseball, where teams money makes a difference and teams are folding because of it I can't help you.

Actually that isn't necessarily true. The Lakers just had to cut Shaw and hope he was available 48 hours from now just to circumvent the tax. I read somewhere about a year ago that the Lakers have been preparing for the cap for a year or 2, so it isn't a matter of them having revenue, it's more along the line of them avoiding the tax. Besides, the gap between the Lakers and anybody else isn't all that big, and if it wasn't for Shaq dominance the Lakers wouldn't be in the elite. In fact, after Shaq and Kobe, the Lakers are no where near as talented as most other teams. Also what people need to keep in mind is that baseball is actually having to close down teams because of the Salary structure.

Shanna, Shanna, Shanna. I expected more from you. The Lakers do run from the luxury tax. Just last week, they cut Brian Shaw, a real contributor to their team and one of Shaq's favorite teammates to avoid the luxury tax.

I grant that Cuban and Allen don't care that much... but in a league when depth can only get you so far... it's less important.

Nice comeback, but what do you expect from an infant?

Jabroni, the NBA has a salary cap unlike MLB. You are comparing apples to oranges. Or do you not see this? That's right, I keep forgetting that you have the intelligence of an infant.

Doesn't matter because all you need is a good practice facility, which apparantly only the Rockets can build, and you have an unfair advantage over everyone else.
