Who in your opinion was the biggest bust? Kwame Brown (First HS player to be selected #1) or Shane Battier (Who would have been number 1, if the trend that year wasn't toward high schoolers?)
While Battier was one of the first non-high school players drafted, I doubt teams were looking to draft him with the first overall pick. With the first pick, teams look for a superstar type player, and Battier at best will be a good solid player for years to come. Out of the 3 high schoolers (Brown, Curry, Chandler), it seems that Chandler currently has the best skills, Curry has the body to become a premier big man, and Kwame is a work in progress with the same type of potiential like Tim Thomas, Drew Gooden and Darko to name a few. Basically, the biggest bust in 2001 turned out to be Eddie Griffin, at least for now.
i'd post here but i couldn't have said it better than this. so i'm just saying well done hippieloser.
