    I love Rudy T.

Ok that's settled. But I think hiring Van Gundy will put us over the top for one reason.

We needed fresh, non-Rocket, non-homer, coaching eyes on this team.

I think Rudy had drafted or traded for and groomed these players. And he had gradually put on slightly rose tinted glasses.
Not that Rudy wouldn't make changes or adjustments. He would and did. But he also was continually trying to fit this team to the preference of "his" players.

    1. He said Francis could be one of the great point guards ever.
    2. He said EG was a talent that they just couldn't pass up.
    3. He said Cuttino could take his man off the dribble as well as anyone in the league.

I remember it that way, just my opinion.

But we really need someone like Van Gundy to come in, who knows the game and will look at this team from the prospective of show me what you can do, prove you can play playoff caliber ball and I am not your buddy, I am here to put together a good team that will win a championship.

I don't think Van Gundy is coming assuming Steve F. hung the moon and the supporting cast should all be in the All Star game.
He is going to look at who can cut the mustard.

This will be a very interesting transition.
