Today I'm in town, home alone, and bored so this is what I came up with.

Who is the best recent thread starter? Here is my formula...

    My last 25 Threads
Take away the most viewed thread (1246) and the least viewed thread (39)

add the view counts (8943) and divide by 23

an average of 388.9 people view my most recent attempts. who is the highest?

    Dude,

You gotta warn us before starting threads that involve math, so our brains don't freeze up. :)

How do you compensate for ALL the threads that degenerate into pointless right/left bickering?

The thread to some degree provokes all the reactions, or at least that's the rationale I'm going with.

Viewing your own threads doesn't count.

BTW, I want to take back my view of this thread.

    :D

Thanks RR, I think it is an "A" list, but less opinion based.

The location of your thread is of critical importance. If I post a thread in the Hangout, I can expect a certain number of responses. If I post a thread in the Rockets Game Action area, I can expect three times as many responses. If I were to wager a guess on who the top thread starters were, I'd say WindandSea, Clutch, Jeff, Doc Rocket and Oilpeire.

So If I bait The Cat into one of his point-by-point dissection/debate all-nighters, that makes me a GOOD poster? Maybe I should just drop abortion, the death penalty, religion, war, music, and hot chick pics into every thread. Ok, that last one is pretty good.

How do I insert those pics, btw? Yeah, I see the IMG button. OK I click that. Now what? Next Yao thread should be a good excuse for some cute asian ladies.

No dude. It means you started threads that people looked at. I don't think anyone implied that having a lot of views of your threads necessarily meant you were a good poster.

    593.2

That Troy thread on Steve "demanding a trade" might have been the most viewed thread in CC.net history... over 8400.

Maybe lack of originality is a viable skew.

nahh, I guarentee the thread that ended up causing the creation of the "bob finn fantasy league forum" had the most views and likely most posts.

    ALSO
apparently i do not start a heck of a lot of threads.
I went back to somewhere in 2001, all the way back to before post view count stats were kept. I had only 17 threads, and doing a straight up average gives me 430.47
