Hi. I'm back. I know you missed me. Just downloaded this album. Sounds like another hit for a guy that can churn out good music very quickly. Thoughts please.
First listen through was a bit underwhelming. Not bad, but not up to level of Guero and The Information. I need to listen a few more times to process it.
Information was not one of the best to me. Guero Mutations Midnight Vultures Sea Change Odelay Information Mellow Gold In that order.
Wow...I thought The Information sucked. Guero was good, but not near Midnight Vultures, Sea Change, Mutuations or Odelay
I've got to say I like Modern Guilt a lot better after a second and third listening. A worthy addition to the Beck mix and worth picking up if you're a Beck Fan. I'm surprised by the hate on The Information and Guero. They're not as mellow as lot of his other work, but I really dug those albums. Although I don't really listen to single albums of his. I just listen to the uber-large Beck playlist and put it on shuffle. A number of my current favorites just happen to be off Guero and The Information.
This thread got me to re-listen to some of Beck's old albums. I'm not sure there's been a more beautiful album than Sea Change all decade. Jury's still out on Modern Guilt.
By far my most fav. of his work since Sea Change, even though it's barely over 30 minutes long. Nothing compares to Sea Change imo. Simply brilliant album.
There hasn't been a more consistent musician in the past 15 years. Everything he puts out, regardless of the style, is high quality.
