Posted here. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=240944 He doesnt know Robert Horry. Called him "post player" before he started shooting 3s. He was shocked that Robert Horry was sleeping during a regular season game. Terrible video title as well. He talks about the difference style of game in the 90s. About how everyone liked to post up. Yet he calls the video "Shaq vs Hakeem - Who was better?" More teams posted up back then because teams actually had big men who could post up. You can hardly find big guys with post game in today's NBA.
I took some flak in another thread for saying Rudy T was not a great coach, and that McHale was on par with him and Doc Rivers as good but not great coaches. This video is a great reminder of why this is indeed true (not necessarily the McHale part, just that Rudy T was good but not great).
What do people think about him sticking with the Mark Bryant matchup down the stretch? Do you "ride the hot hand" or trust your HOF center to close things? I can't say I remember if there were other circumstances that dissuaded him from going to Hakeem in the post against Grant. Maybe Shaq was in foul trouble and Rudy wanted to attack him.
If I remember correctly, Shaq had 5 personal fouls and Brian Hill pulled him away from Hakeem to protect him. Rudy countered by going to Mark Bryant who Shaq was covering. Shaq could not be too aggressive and Bryant's jump hook was very effective. It wasnt all that bad of a decision given the circumstances and Bryant made of most of shots anyways that game. Plus, it was a regular season game. Had it been playoffs, it would have been in Hakeem's hands.
