Barack Obama sees worst poll rating drop in 50 years

The decline in Barack Obama's popularity since July has been the steepest of any president at the same stage of his first term for more than 50 years.

His current approval rating – hovering just above the level that would make re-election an uphill struggle – is close to the bottom for newly-elected president.

Do you not read your daily basso? This was brought up by someone else who wishes failure on the United States.

Other notable presidents who have seen this drop; Clinton and Reagen. Just a friendly, tongue in cheek and SEVERELY BIASED view of the data.

Do you see the governor election battles in New Jersey and Virginia as a referendum on Barack?

Corzine has been fairly incompetent, and Deeds has run away from Obama. Why would they be referendums on Obama?

I think the stat is no president has lost an election when at 50% or better. He is at 47% right now without spending any money to improve it. Nothing uphill about re-election.

why every time there is a thread about something even somewhat negative about Obama, it is classified as a "basso news" or bigtexx thread?

Some of you completely dismiss anything that may have the slightest negative feedback about Obama. You are as ignorant as you claim these guys are.

Well, for starters, this same exact thread was started a days ago by basso with the title "your daily basso". Seems to fit the idea that it's "basso news", no?

    Oops!

GOP Favorability Rating The Worst Since Clinton Impeachment

Here are some additional public polling numbers likely to comfort Democrats concerned about the 2010 elections.

A new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll shows that the Republican Party's favorability rating is the lowest since the height of its efforts to impeach former President Bill Clinton.

Only 36 percent of polled voters said that they had a positive view of the Republican Party, the lowest that has been registered by CNN since December 1998 (when the party had a 31 percent favorable rating). The GOP also had a 36 percent favorable rating in June 2007 -- the waning months of the Bush administration.

The decade-long low for the GOP certainly challenges the conventional wisdom that the party stands in strong position to make major gains in the upcoming congressional elections. It also should spur a bit of reflection over the course of strategy the party has pursued with Barack Obama in the White House. Incessant sparring, it seems, has had the effect of bringing down the ratings of both parties, not simply the one in power.

his poll numbers are actually trending upward the last month. The poll numbers for republicans - 19% approval rating, is far more atrocious don't you think?

by the way, i love how i am a "liberal" now because i am in disagreement with radical right wingers.

Why don't you ask Major and Batman Jones if they think i am a liberal?

Freaking radical right are calling 75% of America liberal now.

    they have lost it.

I actually do think you're a liberal. I also think about 75% of America is, and always has been, liberal. But I think that you, and they, have occasionally been hornswaggled into believing otherwise.

    I am liberal?

That's certainly news to me. Considering I support increasing troop deployments in Afghanistan, am overall interested in cutting spending, for school vouchers, against affirmative action, against CO2 limits, support most parts of the Patriot Act, and oppose long-term welfare....

    You sure I am liberal?
