Like many CEO, he will get as much every day as the average American worker makes in one year just for failing. But it's OK because he isn't a Wall Street banker. Conan is putting people out of work and walking away with a huge bailout and he is complaining. It makes me sick.

Conan isn't getting paid for failure. He had a long-term contract to host the Tonite Show and NBC backed out of it. He's actually losing his job to the guy whose show did fail. Also, Conan didn't sell tens of billions of dollars of crappy CDOs; his subsidiary didn't even have anything to do with the financial crisis or GE's bailout. Really bad analogy.

It's called a contract. Everyday Americans also would want something in return if the employer breaks it/buys it out.

How disappointing, though, that you wouldnt think this through before making this thread. I expect more from our joke BBS characters.

Yep. It was all dastardly plan by Conan to move his staff from New York to Los Angeles, lay low for a few months, then sweep the rug out from under them and cackle to the bank where he and his other government-funded, nouveau riche buddies light Benjamins with their cigars and delight in their ability to cause salt-of-the-earth people to lose their otherwise golden composure on the Internet. He's a modern-day robber baron.

Even better for the American tax payer who funds his buyout.

How did Conan get 45 million just because he didn't want his show moved 30 minutes later. Was it written that the tonight had to be at a certain time? Doesn't NBC get to put the show anytime it wants? I don't get that part. Conan essentially quit and got 45 million bucks. Crazy.

NBC wanted Conan to stop badmouthing them. If they moved his show, he could keep badmouthing them. Then, their only option would be to stop airing it, but they would still be under contract to pay him for producing a show that won't ever air.

Shovel believes that contracts legally signed and agreed to by both parties should not be honored.

I haven't seen a poster that except perhaps basso that less embodies the American spirit and ideals.

Considering this is a basketball forum, why hasn't shovel face posted this after one of the many buyouts that happens in the NBA, NFL, and MLB?

Shouldn't we have a "Rockets pays Tracy $20/yr for being a p***y" thread?

Agreed. GE's bailout is one thing. Whether Conan deserves reimbursement for a broken contract is something else.

    This isn't Conan's fault.

    Good for him.
