Anyone really squeezed that much or even close to the advertised number in the humble CD?

Looking to but a portable CD player and was looking at the Sony discmans which used Atrac 3 Plus to compress songs to 1/20 its actual size.

Anyone know about this cause I have no idea

I'd be grateful for any input.....

Yes, I have ZERO interest in MP3 players

I have a sony ATRAC3 plus diskman, and I hold roughly 350-430 songs on a cd IIRC. one of the cd's that had about 400 songs on it also had a 73min Blue Collar Comdey tour stand up on it.

I love it, the software is great too. I went the route of getting the diskman because it was much cheaper than investing in an ipod etc.

And with that many songs on a cd, it holds all my music on a couple cds.

ATRAC3 132 kbps is roughly equivalent to 128 kpbs MP3, and not as good as AAC 128 kbps.

Depending on what your cd player is capable of.

I have a dicman with atrac 3, but I haven't used it yet. I usually burn them as data files to hold more songs.

ATRAC 3 does that sort of thing, the way it compresses them to such small files with out minimizing quality. I couldn't live with out it.

You could just download it from the internet. It's called sonic stage.
