Why don't AT&T and Verizon merge to get back to the original AT&T.

 

I don't have an issue with the Comcast-Time Warner merger, from a TV/internet provider standpoint, as they typically aren't in the same area. AT&T and DirectTV are typically overlapping so I have a lot more reservation about this potential merger.

 

I want Southwestern Bell back.

 

Exactly! DirecTV is available anywhere in the U.S so long as you have a clear view of the southern sky.

 

I don't like it but can't blame AT&T for not standing still if Comcast & Time Warner merge.

Could Verizon buy Direct TV to finalize a "Big 3"?

 

AT&T is also planning on rolling out the Gigabyte internet like Google Fiber has been installing. They already have plans to bring this to Houston.

 

It's spreading in Austin. I upgraded to the 50 mbps plan so that I would already have the equipment for the Gigabyte when it makes it to my neighborhood. Should be any week now.

 

Installer told me that but even he doubts it happens in next 3 years. Said Houston isn't a priority market for ATT since Google isn't competing here. Said google forced their hand with fiber locations.

 

I'm working on the Google projects, working on San Antonio and Portland right now. As soon as I hear anything about ATT&T coming here I'll post it up.

Sometimes I don't... but during the playoffs and for the non-bickering parts of it, I do (and I did go check it because it seemed a lot better than what HR Dept had written), but you know the press can't be bothered to verify if that sentence really had a "He's sitting" or a "He sitting".
