    errrr, ...I am.

It seems I am being pulled in two directions...time is such a commodity on days like this one...

Right now I'm in SLC, but I dread the drive all over SC Christmas season. Argghghg.

I'd like to think that I'll be more 'focused' (selfish) this season by just hanging out w/ my grandmother but I know that's not what will really happen.

Thanksgiving with wife, mom, sister, two brothers, and sister's boyfriend Wednesday 4:30pm - 12:00 midnight. Held at sister's two bedroom apartment near Richmond and Hillcroft. I brought a ham, paper plates, and board games (played Cranium and TriBond).

Thanksgiving with wife's family: 11:30 am - 9:00pm. Held at mother-in-law's house near Antoine and Gulf Bank. We brought the turkey, a ham, mashed potatoes & gravy, and a pie,

Thanksgiving / annual Family reunion with dad's side of family (big family): Saturday from Noon - 8:00ish. Held at cousin's house in the 2920 / Kuykendahl area. We bring sweet potato casserole and a pie or two.

Christmas, thankfully, is much less erratic. We make a stop at my mother's house, my mother-in-law's house, and that's it.

In the past we had a lot of trouble splitting time, but as the years have gone by we started staying home more and more. Now, we are the home base and the families come to us. It's a lot of work in the kitchen, but well worth it compared to trying to please everyone by traveling all over Texas.

My wife's family (parents and brother and family) lives here in Houston, and they all came to our house, so it was all day in the kitchen for me, but I love to cook so it was all good. My family lives in DC, so I only get to see them occasionally. I can see the benefit of not running around between families all day, but I still miss my family, especially on Thanksgiving. I guess the grass is always greener ....

ROXRAN: just a suggestion, but if you didn't post 34 times yesterday you would have had more time for important stuff like eatin' stuffed squirrel, swapping squirrel hunting lies with Uncle Billy Bob, making a wish after snapping the squirrel breastbone with Cousin Ellie Mae, and taking your pet squirrel for a walk with Ma and Pa ....
