The American Idol contestants were forced to sign bad contracts? I must say I am as shocked as everybody else... In other news: Fire is hot Dogs bark Jumping into a swimming pool full of sulphuric might cause slight skin irritation.
So, in essence, this is pretty much like every other first record contract. Of course, a made-up pop star probably doesn't deserve much of the credit for his/her fame anyway. And, honestly, we are to blame. If we didn't pay attention to the utter crap that is American Idol, the record industry wouldn't continue to try and perpetuate garbage like this.
