This is way off the beaten path, but since there's alot of talk around here about the Rockets getting 2nd round (or 2nd rate - see Dudley) centers, here goes. Does anyone know if the Sixers have signed Alvin Jones? Again, he's not an answer at the center position, but he's a good rebounder and defender who (according to the draft analysts) is good at throwing outlet passes. While the guy can't hit a shot on his own, the fact that he likes setting up fast breaks would make him invaluable on the Rockets. Just my humble opinion.

I like Alvin Jones also, I think he could give us a big body to play maybe 10-15 mins at our much needed center position. Another player I was thinking about during the Summer League games is a 6'10 player named Mario Bennet. I think he used to play for the Suns. Anyways he has gotten much bigger, and I mean buff kinda like Otis Thorpe type of body, he maybe around 250lbs now. He scores a lot of points off of miss shots(Offensive rebounds) and close 5-10ft jumpers(OK not much of a shooter) but he can defenitely rebound(and tips like EG) also. In one of the games he had almost 20points off just offensive rebounds.

Haven't seen Mario recently, but I do remember when he airballed 2 free throws during his rookie year in a game between the Rockets and the Suns. Cassell nearly fell off the bench with laughter. But I also remember he was a strong looking player. Worth a look.
