The woman, who is not a cast member of the television show, said she believes she was assaulted between Nov. 14 and Nov. 15 at the home, which serves as the production area and living quarters for the cast and crew. The woman told investigators that she went to a downtown nightclub on Nov. 14, where she met a man who was an acquaintance of one of the Real World cast members. The woman told police she consumed a drink offered by the man and then blacked out. She said that when she awoke the next morning at 10:30 a.m., she was fully clothed and on a bed in the guest room of the Real World house, being filmed by a camera crew. The woman had some pain in her genital area and believed that someone had sex with her while she was unconscious, according to court documents. A person whose name was not released told a female cast member that the man who gave the drink to the alleged victim had left the home saying, "I just hit that." The unidentified person found the woman lying naked on the bathroom floor. The person dressed her and moved her to a living room couch. The female cast member returned to the home the morning of Nov. 15 and saw the woman on the couch. The cast member and the unidentified person then moved her to the guest bedroom. The cast member woke the woman and told her she may have been sexually assaulted in the bathroom the night before, according to court documents. The cast member then arranged for the woman to get home. The woman reported the alleged rape to police on Nov. 16. A medical examination performed the same day revealed lacerations in her genital area. Thirty cameras are mounted throughout the house, recording images from every area except the home's two bathrooms. The cameras are monitored 24 hours a day, according to an MTV producer. Police served a search warrant on the house on Nov. 18, seizing bedding, towels, couch cushions, video tape equipment, taped footage and computer equipment to be processed for evidence. Police had not made any arrests in the case Tuesday. No "Real World" cast or crew members were suspected in the alleged assault. Police would not comment on the suspect named by the alleged victim. Police interviewed potential witnesses Tuesday, after some cast members who were in the house at the time of the alleged assault returned from a trip to Mexico. MTV's Real World documents the lives of seven strangers living together. Thirteen seasons of the series have already aired, including the most recent, Real World Paris. MTV hired the outside production company Bunim-Murray Productions to produce all of its Real World shows. The network and the production company said they were cooperating fully with San Diego Police. Real World San Diego, is still in production, according to MTV, and is scheduled to premiere in January.
Conversation at MTV offices; YOUNG EXEC: Oh ****! There's been a rape at the Real World house! How're we going to keep this quiet? I knew I should have stayed at FOX news! Damn, I'm going to be sued.... OLD EXEC: What are you, stupid? This is the best thing that could have happened! Call the reporters immediately! Tell CNN! Imagine all the hype for next season! EVERYONE is going to want to watch this! We're going to break records! We'll be promoted, for sure! I might even be able to get a job at a real network!
That has got to be the absolute worst house in the world to try to get away with a crime in. 30 cameras!!
Except they think it happened in the bathroom with no cameras. I guess still they could spot the perp walking in and out of it though.
This is definately going to make for interesting television. I'm going to tune in to see what everyone's reaction is. You wonder if this guy knew what he was doing by selecting the bathroom or not. If he did know that is one ballsy criminal. If he didn't know the police probably scared the crap out him by telling him there were cameras in there.
