Today, I got a new computer at a price of $650...1.73 GHz. It is the Hp pavilion 524w that comes complete with mx75 flat screen monitor, polk audio speakers and hp psc 2110 printer...

I am not a puter geek or anything...In fact, I rather call this a machine box...If any of yall are familiar with this computer, can you tell me if I got a good deal?

I'm not an expert either, so I don't want to alarm you, but I was told to avoid any computer with the name "Packard" in it.

Well, it would be better than getting a Magnetbox or Sorny.

Eh... alright deal (in my opinion).

The PSC printers are notorious for leaking ink cartridges and are worthless printers.

I recently built a desktop for a friend for under $450 that had a 2.5ghz chip, 512 MB RAM and a 120GB HD.

with a cheap 19" monitor, it came out to about $500

but as long as you're happy, that's all that matters in the end, right?

It could be much, much worse. Like drapg said, it could have been better, but it really could have been much, much worse.

For what it's worth, HP's do have a semi-bad reputation, but one of my best friends has a Pavilion, and everything has been great with it. He did have a little trouble once, but HP fixed it up quickly with no problem.

I wouldn't worry too too much.
