Anyone interested in starting a poll on if you think this federally mediated lockout meeting today (Tuesday afternoon) will yield any results? They've been in there for 6 hours already (which I think is a good sign).

    -Lockout Over - Hooray!!
-Several Items Agreed Upon - Few Things Left
-Barely anything agreed upon - Lots left
-Nothing Happens - more games canceled

I don't see there being a deal or a season.

I can easily figure it out: someone made up his mind that he's woth it.
It's like paying for a movie, you never know what you'll get.

Someone must have spoken to Garnett on the side telling him to keep quiet. Good idea.

I'm going to go with this option. I may be wrong -- I certainly was last week when I thought they would get a deal done by the "deal or scrap the first 2 weeks" deadline, but I still stick with the point, that neither side is really willing to sacrifice any games. If you look at Stern's comments back in the summer, he said the framework for a deal needed to be done by 9/1 before any games would be sacrificed (if I remember correctly), and he extended that out fairly significantly.

Seems about even with "hawk" vs "dove" owners, but at least stupid players like Wade and KG aren't there.

I'm just wondering, though, why is Cuban a "hawk", or someone willing to withstand a long lockout? Spending money has never been an issue for him and I don’t get why he wouldn’t want basketball back ASAP when he’s just coming off a championship.

Into the 8th Hour of #NBA mediation, sources in the room are saying " ." Not sure what to make of it.

So far, we know the mediator has at least been successful at keeping them at the table. Passing 8 1/2 hours now.

NBA-NBPA labor meeting with federal mediator lurching toward nine hours here in New York. It isn't expected to end soon.

With the caveat that this is a much different kind of bargaining session, at 9 hrs, it is by far the longest since the start of the lockout.

What it means is if they don't make big progress in this extended session, there won't be NBA basketball for a while. All the bullets are being fired and there won't be anything left after tonight except an impasse and the will and endurance of one side vs. the other.
