How do you finish third in the best conference in the country, behind KU and OU and ahead of OSU (ranked #13), beat OSU (on the road) and Stanford (neutral court), and not be ranked? Ask Texas. Texas Tech got more votes than Texas in both polls! Unbelievable. Texas beat them twice! I guess I could be ensuring a first-round loss for UT in the Big 12 tourney now, since everytime I complain about them being slighted, it seems to result in a loss.
Shut the hell up. Please. We need a win in the tourney so the selection committe will see we have 20 wins and give us a better seed.
That's what happens when you lose to OSU & A&M at home and K-State on the road. As for OSU, I think they deserve to be ranked above us at this point (maybe not as high as they are). They have a better record, better RPI, and equal conference record. However, they closed their season better than we have (5-1) with big wins over UT and #4 OU. We closed 3-3. While we played a tougher non-conf schedule than OSU, we lost most of our big games (Arizona, Gonzaga, Utah, Indiana). I do agree on Texas Tech though.
So finishing 3rd in the best conference in the nation should in fact equal no ranking, according to you guys. They may have lost to A&M and KSU, but they still finished 3rd.
Actually UT didn't finish ahead of OSU. Texas Tech, UT, and OSU all tied for third. I've given up caring about the AP and Coach's Polls (the coach's poll is the worst). I just hope the selection committee looks at the RPI like they are suppose to and doesn't take the AP and Coach's Polls into serious consideration when choosing seeds. In the current RPI, OSU is 15, TTU is 17. and UT is 19. collegerpi.com
I believe losing to atm was more than enough to undo any win they got against any team anywhere. losing to the aggies. . . in BASKETBALL?!?! criminy.
Rankings don't matter anyway...we're going to the tournament, and will probably lose in the first round regardless of what seed we are. We're too inconsistent, and our offense sucks for long periods of times way too much for us to count on them to make a run. (yes, I know I felt differently 3 weeks ago, so don't bother bringing that up)
Hey, I didn't say my predictions were perfect, but UT goes through long phases where they have their head up their asses on the offensive end. Add that fact to the coach immediately benching a player that does anything offensively, and you've got a recipe for yet another first round departure.
Well, obviously they had good enough offense and defense to finish third in the Big 12. I don't know about a first round loss, it would of course depend on who they play. I like Barnes' chances though when he gets time to prepare for an opponent (not sure how much time they'll get). Either way, the team is inexperienced for the most part, so a first round loss wouldn't surprise me, I suppose. I still think they should be ranked though.
Let's hope we don't get hosed in the seeding like we did last year. That was ridiculous; a travesty. What seed will atm be given?
Temple was simply a hot/better team. They beat UF also. I think they made it to the great 8. They were simply on a roll.
But but, aren't you "Texas"? Something must be wrong!!! Everyone knows UT has to be overrated, not underrated. I think the apocolypse is coming.
They should be ranked, you could go up and down the top 25 and point out embarrasing losses, or close games. I mean, Duke lost to frickin' Florida St! Texas is one of the top 25 teams in the nation, but unlike College football, this is a sport where the polls don't matter. Their offense is good this year, because for the first time in ages, Texas is getting good, consistent guard play from Ford, Williams, Ivey and Mouton. That is the major difference between this team, and teams of years past. Also, 7 of the top 9 players are either freshman or sophomores - this team is going to be very, very good in the future.
I didn't see the Temple game last year because of work, but zones stoned UT all last year. Temple was a first rd nightmare from the minute the pairing was announced. UT was favored, but it was a bad matchup for them. The LSU game was a big loss. UT should have won despite Swift. I don't think anyone is left that played a major role in this collapse. Was LSU or UT favored? I thought UT could make some noise this year. Didn't Mihm, the UT basketball team, get the flu? Purdue.....that's a long time ago in college basketball. Francis got shut down by Barkley in that season methinks. Wasn't Purdue favored? UT was still young and needed seasoning. UT plays a different brand of basketball now. They've lost some that they shouldn't have this year and haven't really beat anyone they shouldn't have beat. I see them as a 7-8 seed and should be in a fight for their life in the tournament every game. I think if they got a fifth seed (need big 12 run) they would win in the first easily.
