Whats the big buzz about these? I think they are awful. Who wants to look at this!?!? I know you have to use the glasses to REALLY see it, but come on... last thing I can afford to spend money on is plastic glasses.
Ok, the new 3d is quite different than what you are looking at. Old 3d uses two different image sets (one red, one blue) overlayed over another image that is not toned. The new 3d uses plane polarized light such that one eye sees a completely different image than the other. In concept they are similar, but in actuality the new 3d is actually really amazing. It isn't really a 3d image, rather it is an image where certain areas are more emphasized than others calling for a more intense experience. Now with that said, the cost of the hardware is no where near its benefit...
