No dude, the long hair is a must for flops. It makes the ref whistle faster when they see the hair being tossed around. He simply just can't shave his hair, it's a major weapon in his arsenal.

More seriously, I'd ask him what he works on to improve his defense. I think if his D were better, many people would start considering him for the all-star game. And it probably goes without saying, but tell him we appreciate his hustle, toughness, and humility.
