Panama was up 1-0 on Mexico playing a man down. 98th minute (I think) Mexico threatening late rally in the box Panama player tries to clear the ball once unsuccessfully, then falls down. He attempts to get up and clear the ball again and, looses his balance, falls backwards onto the ball. Ref calls handball, points to the penalty spot. All hell breaks loose in the stands with people throwing stuff I guess. There was a 7 minute delay trying to clear the debris ( I guess I'm watching on UniMas). Then there was a scuffle between players BEFORE the penalty attempt.
You know the confederation is utterly corrupt and inept when people openly joke and bet - before and during the matches - on Twitter, on boards, etc - about what minute CONCACAF will award Mexico some BS penalty to keep them alive. Hell, El Tri doesn't even play to win anymore - they just fly around the field looking for a call. Mexico is the confederations bread and butter, and it has always been biased towards it. No Mexico - no money. Nothing will change until some people go to jail or US Soccer stops being complicit in this and leaves.
Doesn't matter - CONCACAF is determined to get a USA vs Mexico match, and if it can't get one here it will force Mexico into the win for the Confederation's Cup playoff in October. Such is the way of things. Concacaf and El Tri aside, as great as this sport is it is by far the most corrupt. Talk all the trash about any other sport you like, for whatever reason, but none of them can hold a candle to the corruption in soccer. At every level, in every part of the globe. Maybe accepting this sad fact is how El Tri fans like Swoly can live with themselves after watch their team get gifted game after game from a referee.
