The Rockets needed another guard. Good move to improve the bench.

Kind of in the JR Smith mold of SG. Can be really good or really bad offense. Really good 3pt shooter though.

Minutes will be pretty tight but, ideally, you want Harden to be around 34-36 mpg during the regular season. Depth in anyway can help that, especially if Thornton plays to his ability. Maybe Harden or Thornton can play some point? Bottom line is that we can't play Harden 38+ mpg and expect him to be as sharp as he can be come playoff time.

This signing kept reminding me of another guy we snatched up years ago and I couldnt put my finger on it for some reason til just now - Derek Anderson. Does he seem like a similar player to yall? I hadn't thought of Anderson in years and even forgot that he played for the Rockets all those years ago. I was really excited about adding him at the time. Does anyone remember him and his style of play for comparison?

I think you want to play Harden 32-34 minutes and consider giving him the 4the quarter off a la Curry. I think in general, neither Harden nor Howard should crack the 40 minute mark.

Ideally you want something like this, assuming 96 minutes for the guard spots:

34 Harden, 30 Beverley, 12 Brewer, 10 Terry, 10 Thornton - can adjust those for a few scrap minutes for KJ if we re-sign him.

As I recall, Anderson was a better defender but not a great 3 point shooter

Thornton always has reminded me of a stripped down less potent version of Mitch Richmond. Probably not as good a defender. Richmond wasn't a good defender but Thornton is a below average defender. And therefore Thornton has never gotten the burn that Richmond did. But my eye test of him has always pulled up Mitch Richmond for some reason.

Mitch Richmond. Now that's a name you don't hear come up very often. I remember all the hype about him. Need to look up what happened to that guy.

No hes not, hes a discplined offensive assassin. Never been a knucklehead, he'll only add to the team, on and off.

Absolutely fantastic signing. Was saying all year what the team needed last year was an irrational confidence guy off the bench like a Jamal Crawford or JR Smith. Well unlike those guys, we got a similar player for the VET MIN! Great get Murray

How people can say that this is a bad signing is beyond me. We finally get a guy who can get his own shot, attack and spot up for the VET MIN. Somebody who can actually spell Harden. Awesome signing.

This is the kind of signing I was hopeful adding Howard to Harden would open up of the Rockets. Thirteen wants to rebuild his reputation and needs to do so on a contender. The Rockets fit the mold and have the perfect role for him.

Hopefully, McHale will show some restraint and use the guy to help limit Harden's minutes.

MT's job is to coming and be the scorer that he can be when Harden is resting. I am pretty confident that he will be up to the task.

There is absolutely nothing not to like about this free agent signing.
