I'm flying down to Houston for Memorial Day weekend. I'm also thinking of spending a day in Austin. Any recommendations on where to eat and where to go in these two towns? I know Austin has great live music venues. Any suggestions?

Both are great cities, but IMO Austin is more beautiful and scenic. I would recommend Mount Bonnell, 6th street , Lake Travis, Zilker Park, great food & music scene .

Austin is an overcrowded, traffic-congested schitthole of a second rate city. Go there (here) if you like sitting in your car, standing in line, waiting for a table, listening to the "old" folks talk about the glory days, etc.
Houston is where it's at! I recommend the Museum District, Hay Merchant, D&T Drive In and #s.
    Enjoy.

-Petrol Station in addition to the other suggestions for beer.

-Eleanor Tinsley park on buffalo bayou. Recently renovated and beautiful.

-Restaurants. It's almost impossible to make a definitive list. I suggest checking out Eater's 38 essential Houston restaurants.

-Discovery Green, Market Square and Miller Outdoor for all types of outdoor events.

Austin you'll have fun just walking around bc ppl walk there and the culture along with the density leads to fun outcomes

Houston your won't see a soul for miles if you do walk and it'll be a bum lol

I don't. Inner loop can have some aspects of this density but it's no Austin in terms of that

And Austin is nothing compared to other cities in terms of density

So you recommend a guy to go to a city because it has mediocre density vs more mediocre density.

    Seems like poor advice

It's not mediocre it offers a blend of what you'd find in sf and houston

Austin is like San Francisco in that the residents never shut up about how they're from that city.

It doesn't seem like sf to me at all.

And I didn't say it was mediocre, I said it had mediocre density.

Yeah it's called homeless people jumping you for food and/or money.

Come to Austin for the music, the food, and the scenic trails and vistas.

I know what you meant I meant the mediocre density you refer to isn't mediocre. It's a nice blend of dense and spread
