Really good breakdown. Lots of credit to the coaching staff.. just wish it didn't take a whole half to make the adjustments.

Many coaches want to implement adjustments at a certain point in a game to prevent the other coach from having much time to adjust to the adjustment in game. This is a common football strategy as well. You don't show your hand until ready to pounce.

So, the 2nd Q slaughter by Griffin could be from two things: 1) the correct personnel couldn't be in the game together during 2nd Q resting requirements, and 2) coach might have wanted to wait until the second q to use his pre-planned adjustments.

Pops does this all the time. Makes a planned switch in the second half.

But, it could have also all been created and decided during the slaughter and implemented during the intermission.

probably pretty hard to do an in game adjustment of that caliper since fronting BG without the other 4 players focused would have been disastrous with all the lobs he could have gotten. You definitely need the extended half time to figure it out and scheme the adjustment.

anywho great post by the reddit OP

I find it funny how some fans believe adjustments can just be made like the flip of a light switch. Even if an adjustment involves only one person, it still takes time to figure out, planned, implemented, and properly executed. It is not as easy as just saying "Go front/double team that guy!" You have to figure out when to do it, what angle, which player at which location, ect. Usually, coaches will wait for half time or even after the game is over, in order to discuss with players what was going wrong, what needs to be done, how it can be done, and then practice it so it won't be a complete disaster. People need to learn the concept of PATIENCE. Most things don't happen over night, especially when we have a coach not known for quick implementation of adjustments. My advice for impatient, stupid fans? STFU and just enjoy the playoffs. There will be plenty of chances for you guys to b**** and whine if we do lose the series. The rest of us REAL fans will keep believing and keep up the positivity. GO ROCKETS!

will be interesting to see how we try to handle him in G3.

Before this series, I assumed we'd throw Ariza @CP3. But, after watching the day and night differences in G2, we might have to leave Ariza fronting Blake.

    Thoughts?

Terrence did it very good, no need to use Trevor for that.
Good adjustment (easy) and better response by the players (sustain that is the difficult part). We'll see how players respond at Game 3. Clippers can also do a better job at reading and reacting (you can see it at some of those examples) as well as Rivers helping more Blake with some screens. Then, add Chris Paul to the formula and seems unavoidable that Grifin will have his touches.
