Two movies they continuously show on tv every Christmas. If I had to choose which is the better film, I'd go A Christmas Story. Which do you prefer?

Love 'em both, but I don't think I could watch Home Alone all day like Christmas Story.

"Only one thing in the world could've dragged me away from the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window." When Home Alone has a line half as funny as this I will consider it. Jean Shepards voice over comments are pure gold. A Christmas Story is one of the few movies that I could just listen to and still enjoy it as much as watching it.

Its like Larry Bird vs. Tracy McGrady.... only one is timeless, but both entertaining in their own way.

I will say, Home Alone has held up just fine over time... was a phenom amongst christmas movies.

Is this an even serious question? Peter Billingsley as Ralphie is funny, smart, witty, etc. where Macaulay Culkin is just annoying.

    Christmas story is incredibly over-rated.

I cannot in good conscience vote for any movie that omits one of these from its featured items list:

I'm appreciating Christmas Story on my 3rd and 4th viewings today. Home Alone is good, but the same cannot be said about it. I think Santa Clause is hitting the same level as Home Alone.

Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure is the obvious answer.

Home Alone is the reason Americans think torturing criminals is socially acceptable.

Christmas Story, but not by too much.

Die Hard and Elf are also in that conversation for me.

This. Watched 15 minutes of it then changed the channel. Just don't get it.

Christmas Story by a landslide for me. It is one of my favorite movies of any genre. I didn't like it as a kid but the older I get the more I love it. I think Home Alone is great but Christmas Story just reminds me of my childhood and the way I used to be at that age.
