Spurs make history by hiring female assistant coach

Man, the Spurs consistently tempt me to change into one of their fans. Such a well run organization. I'm sorry my fellow Rockets fans -- I'll always be a Rockets fan first, but I have a hard time not rooting for the Spurs when they are not playing the Rockets.

I really like this move, and not just because I had a crush on her as a kid. One of the great floor generals in women's basketball history. Has local roots and is probably about as important to San Antonio as one can get playing women's basketball. A career 90% free throw shooter so I can certainly imagine her having great practice habits that would translate well to coaching.

Mind you, I haven't watched the WNBA in 10 years so I'm kind of extrapolating based on zero real applicable knowledge, but hey. I do legitimately think that she can provide real value to the team as more than a political statement or a publicity stunt.

(Still, though I do take this signing seriously, it does kind of amuse me to imagine Tim Duncan being coached by a 5'6" woman younger than him)

EDIT: Also while checking stats for this post I learned that a career 13 points and 4 assists apparently qualifies you as a top 15 WNBA player of all time, which is hilarious.
