Yeah, because Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker played with the exact same roster the last 12 years. Unless you're saying Parsons is Ginobili/Parker level, which he is not.

    This.

Once you have your core, you have all the time in the world to build chemistry and your roster. If you don't have a core and you don't know what the core is going to look like, then you don't know what you need in terms of fit.

Build the foundation first, then worry the shingles.

First, I never thought the rockets will get LeBron, Love or Bosh from the beginning. Did Morey know the Heats can afford more money to Bosh? Even if the rockets could have Bosh, I fully believe that they will let Parsons go. Les will not pay $80M for the roster, The team with big three without a good role player is still not able to win a title. Les likes to chase a big name, but he is not like Cuban who is willing spend lots of money for winning.

I agree that now should be the time for continuity but paying Parsons 15 mil over Ariza at 8 mil, for pretty much identical production is the difference in being able too add another key role player next summer.

Dallas did this too try and put Houston in cap hell.

    Who cares?

As Dan Gilbert proved, you can pretty much say or do anything ot an NBA player, including the most powerful athlete in the sport with the most leverage, in the most insultingly public way possible, question his manhood, character, talent and everything else . . .

. .. . then say "oops sorry" a few years later, and still have your cake and eat it to in the end when he comes back, as long as you've got the checkbook out.

    Some fans...

Just because it didn't work out, doesn't make it the wrong decision.

If he had stayed here we would have overpaid him. We paid two years at a good rate. LA is paying the 15 mil this year not us.

Lin was a request of Les, pretty sure Maury wanted to keep Dragic.

    It's a real point.

Maintain flexibility, and you can get anyone, even your old players back.

Sign bad contracts, and you're stuck for a long time.

    Said "might."

    It was a calculation.

What are the odds of Harden/Parsons/Howard being good enough

    vs

    Harden/Howard/Ariza+flexibility being good enough

Why doesn't he remind us how he spent FIVE first rounders on PF's and still couldn't find one that is serviceable? YIKES!

    !?!?!?

The Spurs ABSOLUTELY DO NOT keep their players. As soon as they hit peak value, they're traded or let go unless they get a discount.

DeJuan Blair, Steven Jackson, Gary Neal, George Hill just off the top of my head.

They have the Big 3, and fill in the rest with shrewd trades/contracts and smart drafting of undervalued players.

How about being the team that finds the Chandler Parsons and then continues to develop them for the good of the team?

So what was the answer to the $64 question "Was it a mistake not to pick up CP option".

He is seriouly overrated around here, the Rox have not won a playoff series during his tenure, the one time they got to the second round was with a team that CD built. Best GM my a**.
