Getting Ariza and resigning Parsons gives us a lot of interesting lineups.

    You can do...

    Beverley
    Harden
    Ariza
    Parsons
    Howard

    Harden
    Ariza
    Parsons
    TJones
    Howard

You can even go really small....

    Beverley
    Harden
    Ariza
    Parsons
    TJones

The FA class next season is going to not be superb. Love will probably get traded to a team and sign an extension. LMA is signing an extension etc.

I remember Parsons as an excellent defender in his rookie year. What happened?

I have never been an Ariza fan but what a damn good price tag compared to most of the signings happening around the league this year. Valuable contract for years unless he completely flames out.

    I approve.

Beard was recruiting way before Morey was.

This offseason has been one of way overinflated contracts.

Avery Bradley (who I really like) signed for too much money.
Hayward signed for way too much money.
Parsons signed for too much money.
Even Anthony and Bosh, while I think both are good players, I don't think either are worth 120 million.

Ariza at 8million a year is great value, and I think his strengths fit our roster really well.

He knew he had already earned playing time, so he decided to focus more on offense because defense doesn't get you paid. $46 million later, and we can say he made the right choice.

Melo is worth his money, but I hear you on Ariza. Well done by Morey.

4 years is a long time. But at ~8mil per, especially the way the deal is constructed so that it is decreasing, he shouldn't be hard to move if we needed to.

It is still kind of a let down after pursuing Bosh who would have just fit our roster and helped our weaknesses so perfectly. But at this deal, it is a pretty good way to start moving towards our next plan

Definitely not. But you spend what you spend to win now. The window of opportunity of making a run in the playoffs is minimal. You don't let pieces of the core walk because of the price.

The desire of the owner is to win; Morey has saved him so much money all these years.

Why is that your moniker again?

I love this signing. Things didn't even go that bad last time. We were not contenders at the time, what were we expecting from Ariza? His time here was productive. Now that we have a better cast, I expect him to be perform a lot better.

So no other team offered him more? Strange, considering his great performance last season...

Yeah I'm not sure. He was elite at closing out back then according to this forum. He really was good at it though. Gave Durant some problems. Parsons has a lot of untapped talent. Aside from not reaching his potential on defense, he's not great at aggressively attacking yet (but he's capable of it) and he doesn't know when to attack or defer yet.

I'm not even half as big on Parsons as the majority of the people on this forum but he's got a lot of untapped potential, he plays a thin position and he's long.
