Just attended the European premiere. Emma Watson is kind of cute in person [insert Richard Dawson pic]. To make it short, possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. I predict Golden Raspberries and an abysmal Rotten Tomatoes score. Don't waste your time. I decided to skip the premiere party.

While I severely doubt it's that bad, it looked completely mediocre just from the trailer, and looked like any other disaster movie. A shame, given how good Darren Aronofsky can be.

What happened to Russell Crowe? I've been a huge fan since LA Confidential. Heck, we even went to see Crowe and his band play at Stubbs on Red River here in Austin, and I have a signed poster of the band. The dude has been on a roll when it comes to picking bad films to appear in. Robin Hood was rediculous. He took a horribly miscast part in an excellent flick in Les Misérables. Crowe was good in a supporting role in Man of Steel, but the film itself sucked. I'm not even mentioning films I didn't see, except on cable, films that were failures at the box office. What was his last really good role? 3:10 to Yuma? Too strange.

This is true, but Black Swan, The Wrestler, and Requiem for a Dream were fantastic, IMO.

Good point on Wrestler & Requiem. I guess he is literally hit or big miss. The Dave kingman of movies.

I really don't get the hate for Man of Steel. It probably ranks up there among my favorite superhero movies.

But I can agree he's had more average to mediocre films than great ones recently.

Noah? Of course I don't know her; She's been dead for like 200 years.

    Bump

Just finished watching this movie and I couldn't disagree more. I'm not sure if this will be one of those love it or hate it movies (for some reason Aronofsky seems to do that to people) but I thought it was a fantastic film. He continues to be one of my favorite directors and the way he spins the biblical tale injecting his own supernatural twist transformed this film into something that I think must be seen. There were truly awe inspiring scenes combining with an impressive score that created epic moments (reminiscent of LOTR.) After the flood I was worried that the story would suffer but Aronofsky created enough suspense to keep me entertained. The only knock I had was that some of the CGI was lacking.

So far on Rotten Tomatoes its at 73% (keeping in mind there have only been 11 reviews) but the critics who liked it appeared to really love it and those that gave it a rotten score did not appear to disdain it, but were rather on the fence.

Just watched it. This coming from a practicing and believing Christian, I liked the movie. Started off a little bit slow, but boy did it pick up. Really great acting, really heavy drama, and the action was pretty damn cool. It also dragged on a little bit at the end. But overall, a solid 8. That said, if you're a 7-day Creationist with an extremely historical view of Genesis, stay away from this movie.

It's not getting as bad a reception as ATW indicates. I don't have any interest in it whatsoever, though.
