Came across this video from our playoff series against the Jazz in 1985 (Hakeem's rookie season):

Sampson and Olajuwon ... wow. Impressive. The skill on display by both big men is just ridiculous.

Post any more videos you can find of the original Twin Towers in action.

That would work if Asik played like Howard and Howard played like... well Akeem. :\ Last time I checked, despite being as tall as Sampson, Asik is a bit more flat footed. Until Howard learns not to keep the ball low in the post, he is no Akeem much less Hakeem.

Howard could maybe sort of replicate what a young Akeem was capable of.

But who in this league has even remotely the skills+size that Sampson showed in that clip? Maybe Anthony Davis if he was 5 inches taller?

    The answer is no-one

Anthony Davis attributes his skillset to playing guard until his freakish growth spurt in senior year of HS.

But i don't think anyone could grow another 6 inches and still be as graceful as Sampson was

We'll never see two big men that good together, and yes they were better than Duncan/Robinson.

Ralph's offensive game was so versatile and Dream was athletic .

Did you see how Sampson got the rebound, dribbled up court like a PG to start a fast break? Yep, that's a 7'4 dude playing PG.

Nice to watch clips of a game where that don't play corny-ass music in the arena during every play. Just the sounds of sneakers and fans yelling.

IMO its more about the choice of music.. no one wants to hear a pop song or ill-fitting rap beat (thrift shop comes to mind). The music can accentuate if they stop letting PR and marketing get at it

I never get tired of watching video of their first couple of seasons together. What I like about this one is that we get to see a bit of John Lucas doing his thing. I've always thought that he might have made the difference against the Celtics in '86.
