    Fort Worth Star Telegram

    Highlights from story:

    - Aledo defeated Western Hills (Fort Worth) 91-0 on Friday night.
    - With the win, Aledo has scored 77+ in all of its games in district play. They play against Fort Worth ISD schools and Granbury.
    - Aledo head coach was confused as to what to do, as the game was already way out of hand at halftime (56-0).
    - Aledo's offensive starters played 21 snaps.
    - One player scored on all 4 of his touches (3 carries, 1 reception). Another scored on back-to-back punt returns.
    - A running clock was in effect in the 2nd half.
    - The next day, the Aledo HC was notified of a bullying report that was filed by a Western Hills parent.
    - Western Hills HC didn't know of the allegations, but he says that he disagrees with them (the allegations).

So, do you consider running up the score to be a form of bullying, or....

Absolutely not. That parent is an idiot and is wasting the school's time by having to go through the process this brings them. Even the WH coach didn't think anything was wrong about how the game was played. He praised Aledo for their work effort and demeanor on the field.

This Nanny-state mindset is making our kids soft. Freaking waste of time of everybody involved, and that parent should be ashamed.

Why don't they just have a mercy rule? Like when you are leading by 60 call the game.

Not bullying, but Skinner and Chalmers need to talk to the HC about his forfeit policy and renegotiate the hell out of his contract. They can probably wait a couple of games to see if this was just an abberation, more likely with a bunch of kids. Everyone's ostensibly playing for a scholarship, so I don't know about any automatic mercy rule that precludes players from scoring or performing for potential recruiters: that seems like it's own legal can of worms altogether.

So 1 parent on the losing team complained? This is a story why?

Agreed. They should have a mercy rule. We destroyed so many weak teams in little league baseball... I would have bullied the crap out of those teams if allowed.

The score is a story in and of itself, the complaint is enough background for an Austin College grad to not regret his MS in Journalism.

I mean they pulled their starters after only 21 plays. It's not like they were trying to run up the score. The other team was just that much worse that they couldn't stop the 3rd string.

Sounds like the winning coach did everything short of telling his players to take a knee on every offensive play in the 2nd half.

How does a HS team suck that bad?

Its called Fort Worth ISD...thats how - no teams in FWISD are any good in football. In Basketball, all they have is Dunbar, and even their glory days are over.

Aledo In some rankings is #1 in Class 4A and #4 overall in the state (across all classes). They're perpetually good.

The parent(s) (whichever complained) are sore losers. Plain and simple.

I can't believe how much traction this story has gotten. They were talking about this on the Today Show this morning.

I could maybe buy the bullying accusation if Aledo was talking a whole bunch of crap and was playing dirty all game, but by all accounts, the exact opposite was happening.

So because this parent is so whiny, now the entire country knows just how much their son sucks at football. Good job, dumbass.

The inner City schools are usually Basketball powerhouses and the suburbs are Football Powerhouses.
schools and programs change over time. Its really hard to be dominant for longer than a decade. The teams like Southlake Carroll (MONEY) or Celina are few and far between. Heck when I went to North Shore we were the doormat of Houston. Need a win? Play North Shore. We went 1-8 when I was a senior..and that was only because Baytown Lee's 52-0 win was later reversed because they had an ineligible player in the game.

I've been here since 98 (and covered HS sports for a living until 2007) and most FWISD teams have been terrible. Dallas has a few good teams, but the suburbs have all the power. Southlake Carroll, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Allen, Argyle, Denton Guyer. The only DISD school ranked this year is South Oak Cliff which is usually a Basketball power.
