Dana White says the fight was about to be stopped by the doctor at the endof the 4th round due to the cut Jones suffered. JJ and Big John McCarthy both begged for the fight to continue and the rest is history. John Jones was that close to losing. Great fight, I love this sport.
I agree that Jones was outboxed. And Gustafsson was outkicked and outelbowed. It was a great fight and good thing there's probably going to be a rematch.
a lot of elbows and kicks? lot? how many elbows he throws in a round? one good elbow is not better than 10 good punches - jabs and uppercuts. did you see jones's broken face because of consistent punches?
sensational fight, I don't mind the benefit of the doubt going to the champion in decisions like that
I had it 3-2 Jones and can't wait for the rematch. Close fight. I hate when people toss the term "robbery" around in good fights. It tarnishes it.
Jones will make adjustments and finish Gus in the rematch, you know Jones wants to shut up the haters
Good to know. That would have definitely sucked even more considering that the cut was from a slice from Gustafson's glove and not from impact of the punch.

Wow. Impressive performance by Gustafsson. Decision could have gone either way, as could the decision to stop the fight after Jones' cut wound. Jones left the arena in an ambulance...
There was a report of multiple broken bones in Jones' foot. Curious what the actual diagnosis will be. He could be out awhile. I knew something was wrong when he wasn't trying to wrestle Gus. Edit.... Just saw there were no broken bones.
Crazy good fight that in which we saw Jones get rocked. I tend to give the fight to Gustuvsson because he was continuously hurting him with his boxing during the entire fight whereas Jones only inflicted damage with his elbows in the 4th round. Jones connected on a lot of kicks but they really didn't do anything. Also Gustuvsson stuffed a lot of Jones takedowns which along with the damage he inflicted throughout the fight should have gave Gustuvsson the fight. Either way, I want to see a rematch.
How is this for classy?!? These MOTHER TRUCKERS got mad respect for the clean sport. Fixed or not, they're TOGETHER after the fight. Awesome. I like this.
