In graduate school and moving to a new apartment beginning of August.
Anyone have recommendations for the best places to find a mattress and/or bed? I'm gonna be in Miami btw, not Houston.

    Thanks in advance

Are you looking for a temperpedic or...? I would guess mattress firm is a safe bet. They give you the ability to haggle as well. Sleep # is nice though if you need to have a "custom" sleeping apparatus

I've bought a few mattresses in Miami. Best place is probably Mattresses Plus on the north side. But, Mattresses For You off Wilhelm and Smith St has some good quarterly sales if you are patient.

Costco. Got a foam mattress (queen) for around $500. Great, great investment.

    Costco or Amazon.

Amazon, in particular, if you need it delivered.

I swear by Teumpurpedic. I don't know if the knock-offs are any better.

    Assuming they're still around:

    Macy's Furniture Gallery

    13251 South Dixie Highway
    Miami, FL 33156
    (305) 254-5700

    or

    7675 N Kendall Dr
    Miami, FL
    (305) 662-3275

Go to the back, they should have a clearance section, which usually has a plethora of mattresses to choose from, greatly discounted (or you could always call first).

Awesome guys thanks for the specific locations in Miami makes it even easier. I knew Clutchfans would pull through!

I don't need anything high end just want something I can use for maybe 3 years. Don't have any back problems (knock on wood) so just need something standard.

I bought a memory foam mattress off of amazon for like 180 bucks for my apartment. Best investment i ever made, the thing feels like a tempurpedic and i've had it for a year now without any problems.

If you don't mind waiting (4days) i'd recommend it.

Anyone got a recommendation for a place to buy a bed frame/headboard? Been looking at Ikea and Amazon.

Try looking in "Big Lots", if not Ikea is your best bet for something functional and cheap.

Damn, I am seeing a king size memory foam mattress on Amazon for only $259? And almost all the reviews are 4 or 5 stars? People saying it's just as good as a Temperpedic? This seems too good to be true.

I've really been wanting a Temperpedic but I'm just not willing to spend $5,000 on a mattress. Is this really a good alternative?

I bought a king size off Amazon, though mine was closer to $500. Been about a year, no problems, and my wife and I both love it.

+1 for Amazon... memory foam under $500 and I've loved it for the past 6 months or so.
